Jibreel Dua -
Theologically, the Dua of Jibreel is a masterclass in Tawheed (the Oneness of God). It implicitly rejects the idea that amulets, stones, or human intercessors can save the soul. It directs the believer’s gaze solely upward. It teaches that safety lies not in the absence of danger, but in the presence of the Protector.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) did not keep this dua a secret. He actively encouraged his companions to recite it. In one famous hadith (recorded by Abu Dawud), a man came to the Prophet and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the best thing a servant can ask for?" The Prophet replied: "Al-'Afiyah in this world and the next."
However, the specific verbal supplication (the Jibreel Dua as recited by the Prophet) is recorded as: jibreel dua
Translated, it asks God for guidance, piety, chastity, and wealth. It seeks protection from those who are hostile, requests safety in this world and the next, and hopes for paradise. It also asks for victory over those who have wronged him, exoneration from all evil, acceptance after disbelief, and favor and benevolence.
In the vast tapestry of Islamic spirituality, certain supplications (duas) carry a heavier weight of sanctity due to their source. Among the most profound is a collection of phrases often referred to as the — a short but comprehensive prayer reportedly taught directly by the Archangel Jibreel (Gabriel) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The structure of the Dua is masterful in its progression. It moves from the macrocosm of the afterlife to the microcosm of the human condition.
It is a whispered reminder that the greatest wealth is not money, but safety; not power, but health; and not fame, but forgiveness. Recite it today, and secure the protection of the Most Merciful from all directions. It teaches that safety lies not in the
According to tradition, after teaching this, Jibreel added: "O Muhammad, if Allah grants you forgiveness and well-being in this world and the next, you have indeed achieved the ultimate success."
The "Jibreel Dua" or "Dua of Gabriel" is a significant supplication in Islam, narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is attributed to the angel Jibreel (Gabriel). This dua encapsulates a comprehensive approach to seeking guidance, forgiveness, and protection, reflecting the essence of Islamic teachings on monotheism, submission to God's will, and the pursuit of righteousness.
