Why does an ISO matter in 2025? Because it signals . Asahi Linux is no longer a fragile script running from macOS recovery. It’s a standalone distribution. You can now spin up a fresh M2 Mac mini as a Linux build server without ever logging into iCloud.

This is the Achillesilles heel of the current ISO. macOS has granular control over the M-series chip's performance cores and efficiency cores. Linux’s scheduler (schedutil) is getting better, but it is not yet as optimized as Apple’s proprietary algorithms.

If you are looking for a standard .iso file to flash onto a USB drive via Etcher or Rufus, you won't find one on the official Asahi website. Because Apple Silicon Macs do not use a traditional BIOS or UEFI boot system like PC hardware, you cannot simply "boot from USB" to start an installer.
