Without thinking, CJ leaped from the chariot. He flew through the air, arms outstretched, his little leather duster flapping. For one terrible second, he was just a doll—a collection of painted resin and string. But he was also a cowboy. And cowboys don’t let their friends fade away.

And with that, the last grain of magic left CJ’s body. He turned from painted resin to simple, lifeless plastic. A toy. But as Larry held him, the first light of dawn crept through a high window of the British Museum. The other exhibits fell still—Jedediah frozen mid-salute, Rexy a skeleton of bone, the Neanderthals collapsed in a heap.

While the movie is funny, there is an undeniable layer of melancholy running through it. This was the final film role for both (Theodore Roosevelt) and Mickey Rooney (Gus).

CJ tipped his hat. “Keep the diorama dusted, will ya? And tell the new cowboy he ain’t as tough as he thinks.”

Jedediah, the miniature Roman general, slapped him on the back. “Quit yer yappin’, cowboy. Larry’s got a plan. He always has a plan.”

“Ain’t about leaving, pardner,” CJ said, smiling as a flake of paint fell from his lip. “It’s about the ride.”

CJ stumbled. Jedediah caught him. The cowboy’s legs were gone now, just two stumps of dissolving resin. He lay in Jedediah’s arms, looking up at the vast ceiling of the British Museum.

He stood up, walked to the ghost of Merenkahre, and held up the Tablet. “Don’t save the magic for all of us. Just save it for him.”

Silence. The world seemed to hold its breath.

The film itself is a fitting tribute to Robin Williams' incredible talent and energy. His performance as Teddy Roosevelt remains one of the most memorable aspects of the franchise, and his legacy continues to inspire and entertain audiences to this day.

The film picks up with Larry (Ben Stiller) now a successful businessman, but the magic that brings the exhibits to life is fading. The golden Tablet of Ahkmenrah is corroding, causing the characters to glitch and lose their animation.

The film's trailer, which featured Robin Williams prominently, was released after his passing. The outpouring of love and support from fans was overwhelming, with many people sharing their favorite Robin Williams moments and tributes on social media.
