A healthy sweat pore is a two-way street: sebum (oil) and sweat exit, while oxygen enters. However, several factors can turn this thoroughfare into a dead end. The blockage is rarely caused by sweat itself, but rather by obstacles in its path.
It is easy to misdiagnose a clogged sweat pore. Because they manifest as bumps and redness, they are frequently confused with other common skin conditions.
When we speak of "clogged sweat pores," we are almost exclusively referring to issues with the eccrine glands. The duct carrying sweat from the gland deep within the skin to the surface becomes obstructed. When this happens, the sweat has nowhere to go.
