Lacie Vmware Patched -
VMware Fusion/Workstation can use host caching. If the LaCie has its own write cache enabled but lacks power-loss protection, a sudden USB disconnect or sleep cycle causes (only half a VM disk cluster written). Result: The parent virtual disk has been modified since the child was created — snapshot hell.

By default, many LaCie drives spin down after 5–15 minutes of inactivity. VMware, however, may send a “keep alive” only every 30+ minutes. When the drive sleeps, VMware sees a → aborts the VM. Worse: some LaCie models don’t fully wake before VMware retries → I/O errors → VMDK corruption. VMware Fusion/Workstation can use host caching
If you are plugging a LaCie drive into an ESXi host via USB, you have two main options: When the drive sleeps, VMware sees a → aborts the VM
