: Use a cup, ladle, or turkey baster to scoop standing water into a bucket.

: Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source—either unplug it or switch off the circuit breaker—to prevent electrical hazards while working around water.

Once drained, fix the clog so it doesn’t happen again.

The most common cause of drainage failure is a dirty filter assembly at the bottom of the tub.

Light clogs with little water; no tools needed. ❌ Not good for: Several inches of filthy, food-filled water.

This works best for (1–2 cups).
