The investigation into Connor Cairns' disappearance grows increasingly desperate. DI Jimmy Perez follows Danny Cairns, Connor's father and a former police officer with a troubled reputation, on a journey to Glasgow. Danny attempts to track down the Waldron family, whom he suspects are behind his son's disappearance as revenge for his past actions as a "bent copper". Meanwhile, on the islands, the team uncovers new layers of the case that suggest Connor's involvement with an activist group was more dangerous than first thought.
