Whether you’re a die-hard fan of The Big Bang Theory or a newcomer to the Cooper family’s origins, (Season 1, Episode 9) is a standout chapter that perfectly balances high-stakes sibling rivalry with the series' signature wit. Finding this episode in 1080p Blu-ray quality is the ultimate way to appreciate the period-accurate 1980s Texas setting and the subtle comedic performances of its cast. Streaming versions (Max, Netflix, Amazon) often use lower bitrates (5–10 Mbps), resulting in visible banding in dark scenes (e.g., the evening talk between Mary and George) and slight motion blur during the chaotic party game. The 1080p Blu-ray provides a noticeably cleaner, more film-like experience—especially on larger screens (50”+).
The episode follows two parallel storylines: While Episode 9 itself has no exclusive commentary,
Sheldon quickly realizes that Georgie’s learning style isn't quite compatible with his own "genius" methods. However, Georgie surprises everyone by getting a B+ on his test—only for Sheldon to discover that his brother didn't actually learn the math, but rather the "art" of cheating.
The Season 1 Blu-ray set includes exclusive featurettes like "Young Sheldon: An Origin Story" and "Sibling Revelry," which provide behind-the-scenes looks at the chemistry between Iain Armitage and Montana Jordan. You may not know this, but for decades, the U.S. EPA has given the water industry an extraordinary gift: the free and open-source hydraulic modeling software EPANET. Odds are, if you've used any commercial hydraulic modeling software today, it was built on the EPANET engine.
The problem is, instead of giving back to their open-source roots like other industries do, big-name software vendors took EPANET's open code, built private tools on top of the engine, and then locked those improvements behind patents and proprietary licenses.
Some vendors even pressured the EPA to focus only on the engine — discouraging any effort to improve the interface or user experience for everyone else.
Those vendors now charge you exorbitant prices to use their software while EPANET lags behind — and utilities, engineers, and educators with smaller budgets suffer.
We think this is backwards — and we're on a mission to change it. We're focused on creating a better experience for the entire hydraulic modeling community.
That's why we built epanet-js under an FSL license — because we want to give you an affordable, easy-to-use water modeling option that creates a sustainable future for open-source EPANET development.
