The info_hash is a 20-byte SHA-1 hash (or SHA-256 in newer BitTorrent v2 proposals) of the info dictionary found in the .torrent file (metadata). This hash acts as a global unique identifier (UUID) for the content being distributed. When the GRM took over, they didn't destroy the Aviary
The info_hash prevents "cross-swarm pollution." If a malicious actor attempts to inject bad data into a swarm, the client will reject the data because it does not hash back to the structure defined in the info dictionary.
