The rejection is legendary for its cruelty. Seung-jo returns the letter to her the next day, but not out of kindness. He has graded it. He hands it back covered in red ink, citing her poor grammar and spelling, and coldly tells her, "I hate stupid women." The episode begins with Hae Young narrating her life story, highlighting her struggles in finding love and her reliance on her unusual superstition. We see flashbacks of her childhood, where she first experienced the "kiss of fate" when her best friend, Ji Sung (played by Kim Hye-jun), innocently kissed her on the forehead.
The series premieres with an introduction to our protagonist, Oh Hae Young (played by Jung Eun-ji), a bright and cheerful high school student who has a peculiar habit of getting hit on her head whenever she's around the people she likes. This "kiss of fate" phenomenon has led her to believe that a kiss on the forehead is a sign of true love.
