Formerly known as the (opened in 1939), the institution was officially renamed Tranströmerbiblioteket in June 2014 to celebrate the artistry of Tomas Tranströmer . The poet, a Södermalm native, lived much of his life in the area, and the library now houses an expanded poetry collection and a permanent exhibition dedicated to his Nobel-winning career.
