Using case studies of recent Telugu film leaks, anti-piracy laws (Indian Copyright Act, 1957; IT Act, 2000), and industry response measures (blocking orders, watermarking, awareness campaigns), the paper argues that while domain hopping and mirror sites persist, emerging technical and legal strategies are gradually reducing revenue loss. Findings indicate an estimated ₹1,200 crore annual loss to the South Indian film sector due to such platforms.
