Philip K. Hitti (1880-1972) was a renowned American historian, author, and academic of Lebanese descent. He is best known for his extensive work on the history of the Middle East, particularly in the fields of Arab history, culture, and civilization.
Hitti began his academic career as an instructor at the Syrian Protestant College in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1906. He later taught at Columbia University, Princeton University, and the University of California, Berkeley.
