The story follows , a struggling young manga artist with low self-esteem who is in love with his childhood friend, Myon. After a violent encounter with the Yakuza results in his death, Nishi meets a kaleidoscopic "God" in a surreal purgatory. Refusing to accept his fate, Nishi returns to his body with a new "will to live," kills the Yakuza member, and escapes with Myon and her sister.
