He was hunting a ghost. A theoretical body designated only as "Object 361/64."

If seen in a puzzle or test: [ \sqrt{\frac{361}{64}} = \frac{19}{8} ] or solving (x^2 = 361/64) yields (x = \pm 19/8).

Elias checked his coordinates. The zenith. The darkest patch of the night sky, right between the constellations of the Hunter and the Bear. According to the erratic data streams picked up by the radio arrays, something was there. Something that didn't reflect light but swallowed the space behind it.

And then, the screen went black.

Elias watched as the grid rushed toward him, expanding to fill his entire field of vision. The stars of the Hunter and the Bear dissolved into static. The cold of the summit vanished. The fraction resolved.

He looked back through the telescope. The disc was growing larger. Or rather, it was getting closer. But it wasn't moving through space; it was scaling up. It was rendering itself into reality.

Elias tried to step back from the telescope, but his eye was glued to the eyepiece, sucked in by the vacuum of the impossible geometry. 361/64

"Ratio," Elias muttered, the realization hitting him with the force of a physical blow. "It's not a catalog number. It's a resolution."

That was $19 \times 19$. The square of a prime. A closed loop.

He had spent years trying to solve the equation of the object’s orbit. It moved against the flow of the galaxy, a salmon swimming upstream against the current of gravity. He looked at the fraction again. He was hunting a ghost

So is the square of 2.375 (since (19/8 = 2.375)).

The telescope began to vibrate in his hands. The black disc was no longer just blocking the light; it was deleting it. The stars around the edges of his vision were winking out, not fading, but cutting to black as if a switch were being flipped.
