Back at the station, Avinash plays the file. A video shows his daughter — alive, older, frightened — holding today’s newspaper. A voiceover says: “You wanted Season 1, Avinash? Returning to the present, a high-stakes arms deal is underway in a dense forest on the outskirts of the city. The notorious gangster Gudu Kesh is testing a shipment of weapons. The police receive a tip-off, but previous attempts to intercept Kesh have resulted in the deaths of officers.

The first episode introduces us to (played by Randeep Hooda), a dynamic and "grey" cop based on the real-life super-cop of the same name. The narrative begins in 1998, as a crime-infested Uttar Pradesh faces a grave crisis.
